Thomas Bailey 1694 - 1759

Thomas Bailey was born in 1694 and lived in Theberton until his death aged 65. He married his first wife, Jane Kemp, on the 2nd October 1722 and they had four children before her death in 1733. Thomas then married Susannah Almond on the 19th October 1733. They had six children including Robert, my five greats grandfather.

According to the parish records Thomas' first born son, Thomas, married Sarah Pipe (1746-1776) on the 31st July 1764 at Theberton. They went on to have three children all born and baptised in Theberton :-

Thomas signed his will 21st June 1756, assumingly just after the birth of his daughter Mary as she is left £40 which, according to the National Archives, would be worth about £3000 today. It would be a fair assumption, judging by the amount of money, over £15000 by today's values, the amount of property and land he left, that Thomas was quite a wealthy man. His will was proved on 15th June 1759.

Other than the date of her marriage to Thomas and the date of her death, I have been unable to find any more information about Jane Kemp.
Susannah Almond was the youngest child, that I have found, of Thomas Almond, born about 1680, and his wife, Mary Winstanley. The other children were Mary, born 1707, and John, born about 1709. Thomas Almond's father was John who was born about 1655 and would be my eight greats grandfather.
