James Whiting 1787 - 1873
James moved to Kelsale in about 1810 where he
met Mildred Burrell. She was the daughter of George Burrell and Mary Friet who
had married in Kelsale on 11th October 1785. James and Mildred were married in
Kelsale on 5th November 1821 where their five
children, including my great, great grandfather, William, were born.

The 1851 census shows James and Mildred living in
Kelsale. James is shown as being a farmer of 52 acres and they also have a young
servant, Mary.
The 1861 shows them both living with their son James and his
family at Badingham.
By the time of the 1871 census James and Mildred were back
living in The Street at Kelsale.

Mildred died on 17th June 1871 and was buried in
Kelsale churchyard on 23rd June.
James died almost two years later, on 18th
March 1873 and was buried together with Mildred on 22nd March.
